Panicked, I called my husband and said, "Going to the ER, baby's eye is swollen shut." Off I went in a speedy gonazales sort of way to change a diaper and put clothes on both me and my daughter. She was chattering away like there was nothing wrong.
Honestly, I think most times we parents spaz out more than our children do about stuff like this.
So off to the ER we went and we met my husband there which was such a relief because me handling situations like that by myself tends to end in me being a complete blubbering spaz. (Alright, so maybe that's no less different than most of my days.) We sat. We waited. Eventually we would make it into one of the rooms with the curtains and -eventually- a Doctor comes in to check on our daughter. Here I am thinking the worst possible scenario ever would have to happen. Like they would have to lance her eye to get the swelling down and it was a bug bite. Instead we're told it looks like an allergic reaction, gave her some Benadryl and prescribed antibiotics.
Oh, and that hour visit cost us an arm, a leg and possibly my uterus.
Thank you hospitals for that. (/end sarcasm)
That's the bad first, because my daughter has been very healthy, no real allergies, no real sickness.
So what is the good first?
She peed on the potty!!!
Alright, alright, so I know that to MOST people that isn't anything amazing or impressive, but when you're 19 months old all the grown-ups in your household is probably doing some sort of victory dance.
You know, like you just scored a touchdown and can't help but shake your tush while waving your arms above your head like you're a star!
No? Just me?
Well, let's see what else happens in the next few weeks.
Let the potty training commence!
